Nataliya Bolgar

Religious Music Director (Elementary and Secondary Choirs), Elementary Russian, Elementary Computer,

I am excited to be a part of the TCS family. This year is the beginning of my 30th year in education and I am thrilled to continue the work in the choral department as well as several elementary classes. Alongside with my colleagues, I have had the great privilege of working with some wonderful students here at TCS since 2017. I am always energized when the students I work with are eager to learn and expand their horizons of their musical abilities.

Born and raised in Ukraine to a pastor’s family, I am humbled to carry the legacy of four generations of Christians in my immediate family. God gave me an opportunity to serve Him in the times of faith persecution and in the times of freedom. Despite tremendous obstacles, my parents have been extremely supportive of me and my four brothers to be trained and educated in the areas where we excelled and thrived the most.

In addition to the undergraduate degrees from Ukraine (Music and Bible), God has helped me to get trained and receive masters' degrees in Christian Education and Church Music. The unexpected blessing for me and my family has been to complete my doctorate degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. God graciously carried me through my studies as I labored in my educational pursuits and, five years ago, was given a title of Doctor of Musical Arts in Church Music with concentration in voice performance.

Through the years of teaching, God has given me great opportunities to train students and to minister to in the areas of basic music education, vocal performance, childhood education, church planting, and senior adult ministries. One of the wonderful blessings that I have been able to experience is to serve the Lord in countries like Australia, Brazil, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, the Republic of Georgia, Russia, South Korea, and Ukraine, my country of origin.

Everyone in my family lives in Ukraine: my 81-year old mother, four brothers and sisters'-in-law, four nephews, five nieces, two great nieces, and three great nephews. I miss all of them tremendously, but the USA is where God has planted me for the past 24 years.

My hobbies and interests are gardening, reading, listening to classical music, walking in the park (when it is not too hot), watching cooking shows, cooking, attending classical performances, visiting a museum, watching a funny movie, coloring, knitting, visiting with a friend over a cup of tea or a meal, and just enjoying life.

My church family is Gambrell Street Baptist Church, Fort Worth, Texas. For the past few years, I have been leading music during worship services on Sunday in one of the assisted living facilities.
