The Iowa Assessments
In April 2017, TCS students in kindergarten through 11th grade will be assessed with the
Iowa Assessments (K-8: Iowa Tests of Basic Skills; 9-11: Iowa Tests of Educational Development).
The Iowa Assessments provide detailed information about our students in a variety of content areas including Reading, English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.
The Iowa Assessments:
- measure student growth and progress from year to year.
- help identify student’s relative strengths and limitations in these key areas.
- produce information that enables sound decision making and provides a focus for teachers to evaluate their instruction.
- provide information about student performance relative to the school and the nation.
Using the results of the assessment, we encourage parents to work together with their child’s teacher to identify and address educational needs. The results will help prepare our students for the next step on their educational path.
