In order for the math department to run smoothly there is a lot involved. All parties associated must work together.

The TCS Math Department has grown as the 2007-2008 school year has begun. We have welcomed Mr Michael Perry to the staff as a
full-time math instructor. Mr. Perry will be teaching Algebra I and Geometry for the current school year. Our department has also
added an on-campus class in personal Business Mathematics, taught by Mr. Larry Ravelo. We continue to offer college-prep classes
in the form of Algebra III (which approximates freshman college algebra), Pre-Calculus (which approximates the college class of the same name),
and Calculus (also representative of the college class of the same name). Our department is rounded out in the secondary schools by Mrs. Diana
Johnson and Mrs. Jan Stephan, who teach mathematics in grades six, seven, and eight. These classes include arithmetic and pre-algebraic studies.
Future plans include articulation agreements with a local college campus to offer students dual credit classes, helping them to both complete
high school math requirements and start a college transcript. Our goal, now that we have two full-time math instructors, is to offer not just completion
of high school transcript, but to prepare interested students for the rigors of college mathematics, whether a student is going to
pursue liberal arts or something in the area of math/science/technology.
